About us
Danish Maritime Officers is Denmark's largest organisation for masters, mates, home-trade masters, pilots, engineers, dual-purpose officers and many other professionals whose employment is based upon an education as a navigator.
The organisation has approximately 4,500 members and candidates may join the union while they are completing their training.
Danish Maritime Officers is represented in national and international organisations, councils and committees that regulate and administrate the training of navigators, as well as their social and professional situations (IMO, ILO etc.). Danish Maritime Officers also has representatives in advisory councils and bodies that influence maritime legislation.
Members' wages and working conditions are partly based upon collective agreements and partly upon individual contractual agreements. Danish Maritime Officers is an affiliate of ITF, ETF, NTF, IFSMA and EMPA.
We provide members with legal and job-relevant counselling in connection with employment, statutory issues and in cases of on-the-job injuries, tax advice regarding jobs under the Danish or foreign flags, assistance in job placement, coaching, education and professional training.
We publish Soefartens Ledere, a magazine for members, and at the organisation's (Danish-language) website www.soefartensledere.dk you will find additional information of relevance to members of the organisation and others interested in Danish maritime activities.
